What is the background of EduJyväskylä?
The first cooperation agreement between EduJyväskylä educational organizations was signed in March 2016. The University of Jyväskylä, Jamk University of Applied Sciences, and the Jyväskylä Educational Consortium Gradia agreed on deepened cooperation to form a competence center in Jyväskylä called EduFutura Jyväskylä. On January 1, 2025, as cooperation intensified, EduFutura Jyväskylä became EduJyväskylä. The network enhances Jyväskylä’s appeal among staff, students, and partners.
In the cooperation agreement of June 8, 2020, EduJyväskylä institutions agreed on developing cross-studying, committing to offer their students the opportunity to take courses across institutions.
EduJyväskylä cross-studying
What is cross-studying? Why is it worthwhile?
In cross-studying, you take courses from another EduJyväskylä institution as part of your own studies. The best part of cross-studying is discovering interesting courses from another institution to enhance your expertise. At the same time, you network with students from other institutions.
At what stage of my studies? What can I study?
Courses are available year-round. Plan yourself or with your advisor when they fit into your studies. You can find the courses here
What is an ECTS credit?
The extent of higher education studies is expressed in ECTS credits (credits). The number of credits is based on the workload required. One ECTS credit corresponds to an average of 27 hours of student work, which may include classroom or online teaching (e.g., lectures, seminars, exercises, participation in an online course) and independent study (e.g., preparing for an exam and completing assignments).
What is a competence point?
The extent of a vocational qualification is calculated in competence points. A vocational upper secondary qualification (180 competence points, cp) includes vocational study units (145 cp) and common study units (35 cp). One competence point is not tied to hours, but institutions allocate 15-20 hours of teaching and guidance per competence point.
How is the need for special support arranged in EduJyväskylä?
If a student has a documented need for special support in their own EduJyväskylä institution that requires individual study arrangements, it suffices for the student to show the document (statement, decision, or recommendation) received from their institution to the teacher of the EduJyväskylä course. Based on this document, the student receives the necessary arrangements as individual support measures.
Why do I need to use my institutional email for registration? I registered with my personal email, how do I fix this?
Cross-studying is free of charge for EduJyväskylä students, and to verify this, use your institutional email. If you registered with the wrong email, contact avoinamk@jamk.fi for Jamk studies and help.jyu.fi for the University of Jyväskylä.
Where do I get my credentials? How do I apply for the right to study?
