EduJyväskylä Rowing Event

The EduFutura rowing competition for the Jyväskylä region’s educational and research organizations was held on Thursday, September 5, 2024, at Tuomiojärvi. The sunny and warm weather favored the teams participating in the church boat rowing competition. The competition was incredibly tight, but in the end, the Air Force Academy team won with a time of 22 minutes and 38 seconds. A fierce battle for second place occurred between last year’s winner, Gradia, and the University of Jyväskylä. Ultimately, the University of Jyväskylä secured second place with a time of 23:07, while Gradia came third with a time of 23:52. The VTT team finished fourth with a time of 25:16, the new team from Central Finland Entrepreneurs came fifth with a time of 25:26, and the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences team finished sixth with a time of 25:30.
The award ceremony took place at the Priimus campus of Gradia, in the Priimus educational restaurant, where the rector of Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences, Vesa Saarikoski, handed the rotating trophy to the Air Force Academy team, Lieutenant Colonel Sami Nenonen. After the competition, the rowers enjoyed a delicious meal while networking with rowers from different organizations.
